…from dropping Elizabeth off at TEC–Teens Encountering Christ.
These are 2 of her best friends from choir–Micah & Zoe–that talked her into asking to go.
TEC is all weekend–Friday morning to Sunday evening. It's only for high schoolers.
I have to admit that when she first asked, I was very skeptical, for many reasons. But we prayed about it and decided to let her go.
Once she was accepted, we received a letter from TEC, and that was when my heart changed. THEN we went to the Parent Meeting a week ago and found out what it was all about.
I'M SOLD.
This will be an amazing, life-changing weekend for her!
The focus is on building a relationship with the Lord. And the program does this through many means–all in a safe environment, both physically and emotionally.
I'm not sharing with you ANY of the specifics about the weekend here. That could spoil it for any potentials that might want to go and read this.
And actually THAT'S one of the reasons it was so hard for [me] to wrap my head around TEC.
Nothing is specifically talked about before signing up, because so much of it is a SURPRISE for the "candidate". (candidate = first time TEC attendee; don't know why they call it that; even the presenter Sunday didn't know.) And the surprises are an important part of the experience.
But the parents find out "the deal" at the Parent Meeting.
And I can't tell you how IMPRESSED I am with their program.
WHAT they're doing…
HOW they're doing it…
And WHY they do it the way they do.
It's just FANTASTIC!!
Since we received the [parent] acceptance/intro letter, I've been emotional.
At the Parent Meeting, I was emotional.
Dropping Elizabeth and her friend Jess off today, I was emotional (but she didn't see it. I guarantee it. Can't even tell you why.)
Right now, I'm emotional.
And it honestly has NOTHING to do with her being gone all weekend.
I just KNOW it's gonna be amazing.
So–if you think of Elizabeth at all this weekend, pray for her and all the other participants at TEC that the Lord will bless this time for all of them–and that His name will be honored.
AND, if you ever, Ever, EVER have the opportunity to send your child to TEC, don't let them miss out.
TEC usually happens 4 times a year in our area. You can visit the website here: www.westmichtec.org but you won't find a whole lot of information on it, BECAUSE of all the surprises. (If you, as a parent, have more questions about it, I would be happy to talk to you.)
I can't wait to hear all about Elizabeth's experience!
Have a great weekend!
