Get out of the box! (and shell *Ü*)

July 25, 2012
I'm a COLOR Girl!· Project Pics· Tricks of the Trade

25 Jul

I admire people who think outside the box when it comes to stamping. I just happen not to go there often myself!! My habit it to CASE those special people.

You know, Copy And Share Everything? As I've said, it's a great way to learn. Not sure I'll ever learn the thinking, but I can learn to make their projects!

Scan0124This one is an adorable idea from my downline Michelle Jager. (She CASEd it from someone else she found online and shared.)

Scan0125This turtle is made using one of my favorite new Framelits (from Apothecary Accents), plus a circle punch to make room for the feet! She made it pivot on a brad so you can see the greeting inside the shell.

She also added texture to the shell with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

How cute is that?!

Here's a little more conventional way of using the same framelit. Still cute–but it's "inside my little box." *Ü*

Scan0122I already told you I love the framelit, but one of my favorite parts of this card is the colors! The designer paper is Patio Party (also coordinates with Make a Cake set) and has Primrose Petals (card base), Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse and Baja Breeze.

(Have you noticed in the past few years that SU! has been listing the coordinating colors underneath designer paper in the catalog? I LOVE that! It's so helpful!)

And of course you recognize the Chevron Embossing Folder! If you've not been introduced….Stamper, meet the Chevron folder; Chevron meet Stamper! You're gonna love each other!

The 2 stamp sets used here are Curly Cute (greeting) and Morning Post (alphabet). The alphabet is bold but has a little script, vintage-looking background in it. (To fit well inside this framelit, you have to limit the number of letters to 4.) Very cool! And goes well with the Postage Due set. (Example)

Hope you enjoyed getting outside the box a little! Check back tomorrow and I'll give you some tips on some "Big Shot speak."

Remember, if you can fall in love with a project, you can learn to create it! Here to help you channel your inner Creative Genius….

Have a great day!

Steph
