Before I talk to you about the very important topic of the Big Shot (who doesn't LOVE it?!), I wanted to bring your attention to the new tool on the right side of my blog….
It's a picture of our catalog linked to my demonstrator website allowing you to view any current catalog (in case you don't have one in your hot little hands….By the way, they're FREE from me; just ask. *Ü*)
BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, you can also view the "Stampin' Supplies" (in pdf form) for any of the current catalogs as well! It's always been there–just not quite as convenient as in the back of the catalog.
So if you want to know whether Rich Razzleberry or Raspberry Ripple was used on a sample in the catalog, you can look there! (Thought you might like that.)
Ok, back to the Big Shot….
I've talked with someof my customers about the differences between Sizzlits and Embosslits and Edgelits and Clearlits and Framelits and……..all tools for the Big Shot.
Anyway, I thought I'd give you a few quick tips and visuals to help you remember their uses while you're drooling over the catalog (or the new mini catalog that will go "live" Aug. 1. Can't view Stampin' Supplies until it's "live.")
They all can get kinda confusing, so 2 things first:
1) If it has the suffix "LIT" in it, it CUTS. Simple, I know, but it helps to know this!

Sizzlit, Embosslit, Clearlit, Framelit, Edgelit (Did I miss any?)
2) If it has the word "EMBOSS" in it, it EMBOSSES or gives a texture–actually a pretty deep impression.

Embosslit, Embossing Folder (I think that's it.)….If you only see "FOLDER", it's assumed Embossing Folder.
All of the above are thin and are used along with the multi-purpose platform and cutting mats AND should only be used with ONE SHEET of cardstock or designer paper.
(While I'm on that topic, anything with the word Originals or Bigz in the name is a thick die [approx 3/4"?] that only needs the cutting mats–no multi-purpose platform.)
So–"LIT" means cut and "EMBOSS" means texture. That means the EMBOSSLITS cut AND texturize! Makes sense and easy to remember right?
Here are a couple pics and samples.
This first one uses both a Clearlit (CUT into a scallop rectangle) and an Embosslit (CUT & EMBOSSED into Fashionable Hearts). The texture on the Pumpkin Pie heart is perfect for this designer paper!
By the way this cool designer paper from the Holiday Mini Catalog is called Howlstooth and Scaringbone.
I'm totally NOT a Halloween girl, so although the name is very Halloween, the design is great for me–just cool fall colors and designs! Oh, and I used Morning Post Alphabet again.
The next card is one I may have shown you already from my Open House, using the Bitty Banners Framelits.
Framelits are so awesome! No need to cut out that cute little banner!!! My Big Shot can handle it!
The sets are Summer Silhouettes and Itty Bitty Banners.
NOTE: Framelits (and Edgelits) are the only items we carry that need both tabs down/closed on the multi-purpose platform.
There's no extra thickness of felt like on a Sizzlit (or Clearlit) as you can see in the picture. The wording on the [platform] describes them (Framelits/Edgelits) as "non-backed wafer-thin dies".
I didn't show a pic of the Edgelit, but it's the same thickness as the Framelit. It's just used for the edge of the card.
I hope that helps you as you're looking through your catalog! If you didn't notice already, there are "sandwiching" guides–Certainly Celery or maybe VERY light Lucky Limeade rectangle–kinda centered on each page of the Big Shot products.
