Technically, it's not Monday (unless you're checkin' in from the west coast or something.) But I think you'll still be happy with "Scrappy Monday"….
I was trying to figure out the inspiration for my project, so let's start with a simple question and thought before I tell you how I got there:
Where/how do you store your scraps?
I store all my 8 1/2"x11" cardstock in hanging file folders in one of those plastic file cabinets–in general, by color family. (But I know my color families….Maybe that doesn't make sense for you.)
I store my scraps in the same hanging folder that I store the same cardstock.
For my DSP and 12"x12" cs, I store all those in their original packaging–including their scraps–on one of my bookshelves.
This system works for me….
If I have a certain color or DSP in mind, I can see immediately if I have a scrap in that color that I can use instead of a full sheet.
So let's get back to my project.
Do you ever work on a project and end up with leftovers you never used?
…Maybe your vision changed–design, color or texture.
…Maybe you punched extra cs or embossed or cut more pieces with the Big Shot than you needed.
If you're looking for inspiration, try giving your scraps a 2nd look!
That was my inspiration.
I had colors in mind that I was interested in….Last year's In Colors.
I just decided to go searching through my hanging file folders and ended up with Pool Party, Island Indigo and Lucky Limeade.
Except for the Whisper White base card, this Scrappy Monday project is literally made of scraps I pulled from my files.
I stamped the greeting and the flowers, added a little Dazzling Details to the heart and butterfly, and cut the pennant/flag.
That makes this card come together pretty quickly, doesn't it?!
The sets are Sweet Essentials and My Friend.
I also used Argyle and Elegant Lines embossing folders, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, and Beautiful Wings Embosslit.
Have fun using your scraps!
