I had a workshop recently where my hostess asked if I could use Birthday Blooms.
I don't have the set, so she lent me hers.
I had a vision in mind with Sweet Sugarplum and {shocking!} Rich Razzleberry.
I stamped a few other ideas with it, too; but here's my first:
To color in the flower, I used Blender Pens to give a softer/blended look and to make my ink pads–Sweet Sugarplum, Rich Razzleberry & Old Olive–more versatile:
- Hold your closed ink pad in both hands with thumbs on top and other fingers on the bottom.
- Press your thumbs down/squeeze your thumbs and fingers together.
- Release and open up the pad.
- You now have a palette to grab ink from with your Blender Pen.
- Color your image in a small circular motion.
- Grab more ink when it runs out and repeat as necessary.
- When you want to change colors, scribble color off–on all sides–gently on scrap paper until it runs clear.
- Continue with your next color.
Blender Pens are basically clear markers that allow you to get somewhat of a watercolor look without the mess of paintbrush and water. It's less wet and messy than actual watercoloring–and even less wet that using an Aquapainter.
They come 3 to a package and have 2 tips on each–in case one tip gets fuzzy, like markers eventually do.
One of the questions I get asked the most about a product like this is HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?
Well, THAT'S a loaded question!
MINE last a few years–and still look fairly new!!
If you know my coloring habits, you understand. 🙂
But SOME of you LOVE to color!
And SOME of you are pretty fervent with your coloring!! 😉
So the answer to the question TRULY is–it depends on how often you use them AND how hard you are on them.
They are a great tool!
And although I don't color often, Blender Pens are something I've always kept on hand.
They are a "necessity."
Ok, I decided since it's been awhile since I posted, I'm gonna share again in a little bit.
So have a great day! And I'll be back soon!
