If you're friends with me on Facebook, you know I've been posting something I'm thankful for every day this month.
It wasn't my idea.
I decided to follow the crowd in a thankful trend.
Afterall, I have SO MUCH to be thankful for!
I'm not going to repeat myself from all those posts.
But I do still have to say I'm thankful for God & my family.
Just can't get around that.
I have 2 "thanksgivings" to share today, and THEN I want to hear from YOU!
I am so VERY thankful for Todd's Grandma Flath. She was the BEST!
She's been gone for 19 years; she's who we named Elizabeth after.
She was completely deaf since before Todd's mom even met her, but she had a great sense of humor and she was thankful for everything!
Every Christmas [whatever you gave her] was something she'd "always wanted."
We were able to spend a lot of time with her, because after Todd & I married, his parents built a home which included an apartment made for her.
If we went to Todd's parents', we went to Grandma's.
Plus, she and Todd were really close anyway….He often took her grocery shopping when she was able…and went FOR her after she wasn't.
(Ask him about shopping for her ham–or taking her to the Farmers' Market. *Ü*)
Thanksgiving always brings back wonderful memories of her, because at every nice dinner she came to–Thanksgiving, Christmas, Sunday dinner, etc.–she brought a tin of dinner rolls.
They were the best, and Todd's parents could never duplicate them!
Some time before she passed away, I sat down with her and got the recipe and her "take" on it. On the back of this recipe is a conversation she and I were having that day.
Mom & Dad always had a stack of (4×6?) sturdy white cards around, so anyone could have a more lengthy conversation with her. (She never learned sign language.)
That conversation was nothing special in particular, but it's a visual, physical memory of my relationship with her. And I WILL NOT get rid of that recipe card.
Yes, I've figured out the recipe, but I always feel like it's touch-n-go. I can get the flavor, but it's rare that I also get the correct texture.
And for the past few years, it's been Elizabeth that makes them for Thanksgiving now. (Her Grandpa's pretty proud that she can "nail" them.)
Obviously, Grandma passed on much more than a dinner roll recipe as her legacy–but those rolls ARE her!
She loved the Lord, loved her family, oh–and loved her Michigan football, too!
I love Grandma Flath so much! And I'm so thankful she is/was a part of my life.
So, who are YOU thankful for–and why? Do you have a person or a story you want to share?
Make a comment below this post.
(I'll get back to that.)
The second "thanksgiving" I want to mention is Stampin' Up!
I am ever so thankful to be a part of a company that I can be proud of….
They inspire me and encourage me and even provide a good example of how to deal with the people around me.
They are a company full of integrity in a world that is losing it.
They provide me an avenue that allows me to contribute to my family–financially and in ways that just can't be measured, like in friendships and sanity! *Ü*
I'm very thankful to have Stampin' Up! in my life.
And here's another thing. I get FREE STUFF from them!
If you read my blog or newsletter, you know I went to a Regional Seminar over a week ago.
Well, one of the freebies I received was this stamp set.
And I already have it!
Do YOU want it?!
Here's how you can win it…
"Sharing the Wealth" Moment:
- Leave a comment below this post–from now thru Monday, 11/26.
- Your comment needs to be a "thanksgiving".
- It does NOT have to be a long story like I gave you.
- But it DOES have to tell [us] for whom or what you're thankful–and WHY.
- Each comment is a chance to win.
- You may enter once per day (with a different who/what & why) thru 11/26.
- I'll draw a random winner on Tuesday, 11/27.

I am thankful for my God, who gives me everything! Lately He's been using my blog and certain cards to bring back memories, and the one that really sticks is the memories of all 3 of my girls dancing & twirling in their Christmas finery. Maybe that memory is so precious right now as my 2nd daughter is getting ready to move out next month and be married next spring…where has the time gone? I thank God each and every day for the joy and priviledge of raising 3 beautiful young ladies…thank you, thank you, thank you!! OK, I'm done being sappy! Have a great Thanksgiving Steph! :0)

I am thankful for a wonderful family. I have such a wonderful relationship with my husband and my daughter, her husband and my grandkids Mark and Lily. We love spending time with them even though we have to travel to Spokane, WA to do that. We will have a nice Thanksgiving dinner, and also have Christmas while we are here.

With the bustle of the holiday and all the visiting from family, Everlyn my new Grand Daughter was the star of my Thanksgiving holiday. But as much joy as she brings into my life the person I am the most thankful for is my wonderful husband. Putting up with me is bad enough but now he has 2 women in the house to rock his world. We are 36 yrs and still best friends!
