Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above….James 1:17
Today Americans celebrate the freedoms we enjoy because of the sacrifices of many people in our country's history–sacrifices that are still being made today by even more servicemen and women.
I'm very thankful to those who are still fighting on my behalf. And I'm thankful to their families who've also had to sacrifice in other ways.
I take them–and my freedoms–for granted far too often. I forget that they're still sacrificing; they're still fighting to keep my precious freedoms intact.
Unfortunately, I also take for granted the precious gift that God gave me in giving His Son, Jesus Christ, so that I might live forever in heaven with Him.
Similar to the lives of some servicemen and women lost, that sacrifice is immeasurable! Greater love hath no man that this, that a man lay down his life for his friends….John 15:13
The difference is Jesus' sacrifice was "once and for all". He doesn't have to "keep fighting" on my behalf. Once was good enough–for eternity! (as long as I accept His gift.)
I hope you've accepted His gift as well. And if you have already, I hope this reminds you to thank God for this precious gift while you also thank God for the lives of our servicemen and women today.
Enjoy your day–and your freedoms!
Steph
