Pin-spiring Pink

October 12, 2012
I'm a COLOR Girl!· Project Pics· Tricks of the Trade

12 Oct

I love finding gorgeous color combos on Pinterest, and then making them fit my Stampin' Up! color palette.

I've had this pinned for awhile and it keeps attracting my attention.

I just must be in a black and pink mood or something, because a couple of these colors were in my Pin-spired blog post last week!

Anyway, I tried 2 different cards….This first one is specifically using the palette on the side–my take: Pretty in Pink, Raspberry Ripple, Basic Gray, Basic Black and (a light gray.)

We don't have a light gray anymore–I don't mind–so I softened the Basic Gray with a Whisper White craft pad…

  • sponge daubing behind some "ornaments"
  • direct to paper on the edges and then rubbed with my finger
  • stamped snowflakes on Basic Gray layer

Of course you know I had to add white to the card to make the colors pop, based on my "5 Tips", even though it wasn't described in the palette.

The words (Greetings of the Season, pg 8 Holiday Mini) are embossed with VersaMark and White embossing powder.

I love the card–especially the different "ornaments"–Dahlias, brads and rhinestones.

It matched the color palette but it didn't seem to bring out the true colors of the picture.

So I tried another one.

I replaced the Raspberry Ripple with Melon Mambo; I also added more white craft ink.

What do you think? Which do YOU prefer OR which do you think is closer to the picture?

Let me know below!

Have a great weekend! I'll be back Monday with an awesome scrap idea!
