We're celebrating Scrappy Monday with elves!
I'm not at all a Santa and His Elves kind of girl, but I LOVE this card!
I saw this idea somewhere almost a year ago, but it was too late to use it then. So I've had it in my head to share ever since!
We made this at my Christmas Stamp Camp.
But……………..I don't think it was a favorite, because there was a trick I didn't think of that would have helped tremendously.
First, can you tell that the Top Note Die was used for the bottom of the feet?
I MUST SAY, this is the most versatile, well-loved die invented!! If you don't have this, you need to put it on your next order! Not even kidding.
In fact, I think I need to start making ideas with this die a regular topic on my blog (maybe a couple times a month at least?)
Anyway, the cardstock is scored in the center and run through the Big Shot.
THEN, you use circle punches (we used 1 1/4" & 1 3/8") to punch out the round ankles and toes at the top until you get the shape you're happy with.
TRICK: What never occurred to me is that it would be so much easier if you stamped the greeting first and folded it in half so that you can punch both feet at the same time!
AH!! That would have been so helpful to know!!! I don't know if anyone else thought of it, but Elizabeth saw my customer Ann use that trick at the end of the day. (I think she was the last one, so there was no one to share her expertise with!)
Anyone else think of that?!
DUH!! Me neither!!
So how many of you are going to try it again? It was way easier when I did it that way. Give it a shot!
OH–by the way, I made this into a 6 x 6 page, too! (Sorry no pics–gave it away before I took one.)
Make the legs extra long, and it's perfect for a single, fun Christmas picture, right above the points of the toes.
Colors are Crumb Cake, Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler (scraps!) and Whisper White.
We used No Peeking (yes, it's the fun one with the penguin!) and Delightful Decorations ("snowflake").
Hope you liked our elf's feet!
Speaking of which, how many of you make the movie Elf part of your Christmas traditions sometime during the season?
I LOVE that silly movie! There's just something about the innocence of a child that he portrays in that movie…..I can't even tell you how many times the kids and I watched that movie last year. Todd got sick of it.
LOVE it.
So…are you practicing using your scraps? Tell me how!

Becky Roberts of "Inking Idaho" came up with the original idea for the elf boots. I got the idea too late too to make Christmas cards, but made "thank you" notes with the idea instead last year. I'm one of those mean mom's that still make my kids send thank you notes at Christmas for gifts they received! :0) I'm going to post my card sometime next month too…can never have enough ideas floating around out there! :0)
