It’s a good day!

The "Other" Stuff

13 Aug

Happy Friday!!!

I was gonna start right in with my second closeup, but…

Today is Todd's birthday!

And I got distracted chatting. (There will be another post coming later.)

I made Todd's fave–chocolate chip cookies–for him to bring to work.

And I ate too much yummy cookie dough yesterday. ๐Ÿ˜€

The recipe is called The Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies.

For good reason.

Actually, how I ended up making these for him was I was planning on a cake (which I made last weekend.) When that plan was brought up at work–and knowing Todd would be bringing the bulk of the cake to work on Monday–one of his coworkers who's only been there a few years (as opposed to a few of the lifers who are always making requests of Todd or I) said he was hoping for chocolate chip cookies. "They were the best cookies I've ever had in my life." How can you resist THAT request?? I probably haven't made them in a couple years, for some reason.

Anyway, so I made both.

AND we're going peach picking later!

It's that time!

PLUG: We go to (Gary) Crane's U-pick in Fennville.

They have huge peaches, so juicy and sweet!

There's one variety that is the largest and doesn't harvest until a little later in August–usually too early for Todd's birthday.

I remember one year weighing what seemed to be the largest peach we brought home.

IT ALMOST WEIGHED 1 POUND!!!

I think it was 15 oz.

Now that I've been talking about all this–and reminiscing again–I have to share a couple of my fave peach "picking" pics.

Eating in the orchard is a MUST–and encouraged, so you can find the varieties you like!

Let's be honest; there aren't many peach varieties we DON'T like. ๐Ÿ˜‰

My computer says this one is from 2010. Eddie & Isabela, Teresa's oldest, are 15 and 13 now. โ™ฅ

Such cutie patooties!! (Wow. I haven't even used that term in a long time!)

Todd & my youngest sister, Danielle, 2013.

They're cuties, too! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Danielle, Hayden & Morgan waiting patiently for the Flath's to pay for their huge load.

Todd & I have this thing–a saying?–when we're trying to walk OUT of the peach orchard or strawberry or blueberry fields….

There's always "one" and then another one….that are just WAITING there for us to pick them!

So our boxes or buckets, depending on the fruit, end up even fuller than when we say, "ok we're done!"

It's a problem.

But as the country song goes, "if loving you is wrong, I don't wanna be right!"

….if picking one more peach is wrong…. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Btw, I do remember having at least one pic somewhere that included our kids, too, but I also remember Liz completely hating it cuz she said she looked awful.

Fruit picking is NOT a glamorous event. Haha.

And it's usually quite early in the morning when we leave, so it's not so hot!

So that one's not saved in my phone.

Ok, I gotta get going!!

I have stuff to get done before we go picking!

And I have another blogpost coming now that I took my pics.

I'll be back soon!

Have an awesome day!!
