What About the Scraps?!

July 2, 2012
Project Pics· Tricks of the Trade

2 Jul

Before I "address the scraps", I want to ask you….How did you do sharing your craft/making an impact last week?

I kinda gave you the challenge to make it happen on Wednesday, but MY goals don't have to be YOURS!  Or maybe my timeframe doesn't work for you.

But did you get it done?–Or do you have it "scheduled" at least?!

THAT'S what's important–that you DO it!  Make a point to share a card with someone this week. (Then comment here to tell me who you shared with!)

Sometimes, unfortunately, it takes extra effort to make it a priority. But the rewards are priceless.

So back to "addressing the scraps". We have a LOT of them, don't we? (unless we're working digitally, like I was last Thursday. *Ü*)

In our craft of stampin' and scrappin', we end up with scraps of cardstock, designer series paper (DSP), ribbon……..

Considering that I try to be frugal (though not as frugal as SOME),Scan0096 I want to share ideas with you regularly to help you use up your scraps.

The first sample I have of this is one I turned into Tyler's birthday card last week.  The card is a white base with a white "Stripes" embossed layer over it.

The DSP is Summer Smooches….a 2" x 4" piece of cs is covered with adhesive and then 1/2" strips of DSP (at least 3" long) are lined up next to each other across the adhesive.  Trim the excess off the edge of the cs and attach to your card!

I embellished with buttons, but another idea is punched or die cut flowers.

How cool is that?!?!?! And how often do we have 1/2" strips leftover when we're working with our DSP?  Honestly, I have them fairly often and typically end up throwing them away, because they bother me.  (Yes, I'm only frugal to a certain extent. *Ü*)

But I could start a new 1/2" scrap folder just for this type of card.  I love it!

(Of course, you know, I'll only have scraps like this if I actually USE my DSP–and don't just hoard all my cool stuff! I need to share it–and so do you.  Don't be a hoarder!)

Scan0083My next example uses 1/2" strips of Summer Smooches DSP again, plus the Polka Dot embossing folder and Blossom Party Originals Big Shot die.

Again, you can embellish however you'd like!

(The card is white base; Razzleberry was just used to show up better in the scan.)

Hopefully, my samples inspire a new ideas for using your scraps, too. I'll have more scrap ideas next week!

Remember to share a card with someone today/this week. Make an impact in your own way!

Here to help you channel your inner Creative Genius….

Have a great day!

Steph
